What is Tai Chi?

Tai Chi is an Internal Chinese martial art/meditative practice used for it's defense training, it's health benefits and calming meditation. The term Tai Chi (sometimes spelled taiji) refers to a philosophy of the forces of Yin and Yang as they relate to the movements performed by the practitioner. Though originally conceived as a martial art, it is also typically practiced for a variety of other personal reasons: competitive wrestling in the format of Pushing Hands (tui shou), demonstration competitions, and achieving greater Health. As a result, a multitude of training forms exist, both traditional and modern, which correspond to those aims with differing emphasis. Some training forms of Tai Chi are especially known for being practiced with relatively slow movements.

What is Qi Gong?

Qi Gong (or chi gung) literally means "life energy cultivation" and is a holistic system of coordinated body posture, movement, breathing, and meditation used for the purposes of health, spirituality, and martial arts training. With roots in Chinese medicine, philosophy and martial arts, qi gong is traditionally viewed as a practice to cultivate and balance Qi (approximate pronunciation is chi), translated as "life energy". Qigong practice typically involves moving meditation, coordinating slow flowing movement, deep rhythmic breathing, and a calm meditative state of mind.
