My Goal is Not to be Better than Anyone Else, but to be Better than I used to be.
Korean Word of the Week
By BKS Faith
Word: 유장 (yu-jang) From the Heart
Phrase: 유장하게 수련하자 (yu-jang-ha-ge su-ryeon-ha-ja)
Let Us Train with Sincerity and Heart
Diving Deeper: From the heart is when your actions, words, and training come from a place of sincerity and genuine intent. It means to give it your best effort not because someone may be watching, but because you are committed to improving yourself. When you train from the heart, it gives you a purpose. A reason to be here. Everyone has days where they may feel tired, distracted, or bored. But in these moments, it is important to remember ‘why?’. Why did you start martial arts? What are you hoping to achieve? The answer cannot just be “my parents brought me in today.” They have their own reasons to bring you in and it comes from the heart. They may want you to learn self-defense, build confidence, develop discipline, or gain skills that will help you throughout life. But you have to find your own reason. Something that matters to you. It may take time for you to find the answer, but when you discover that thing that motivates you and gives you a sense of purpose, your training becomes more meaningful, and it shines throughout your techniques. 가족!
