Korean Word of the Week

By BKS Faith

Word: 투지 (tu-ji) Fighting Spirit.

Phrase: 투지로 한계를 넘어라 (tu-ji-ro han-gye-reul neo-meo-ra) Push Beyond Your Limits with Fighting Spirit.

Diving Deeper: This is what you do when you want to keep moving forward when facing any obstacles or difficulties. As you go about life, challenges are unavoidable. There will be moments when things do not go as planned, when you feel tired, frustrated, or unsure of yourself. Having a fighting spirit is the determination to keep going anyway. As martial artists, we experience this constantly when trying to learn new techniques or forms. We may make mistakes during practice or struggle with something we’ve done many times before. Testing or competitions can bring nervousness and pressure. In these moments, this reminds us that the goal is to never struggle, but to learn how to respond when we do. Having a fighting spirit means getting back up after a mistake, staying focused when you’re tired, and continuing with your best effort when something feels difficult. It is you choosing to move forward instead of allowing an obstacle to stop you. We may not always be able to control what happens to us, but we can control how we respond.

Challenge: Try to use the Phrase of the Week at the 도장 (Do Jang)! 가족!  Thank You!  Tang Soo!!!

A dojo (Do Jang) is an arena of confined conflict where we confront an opponent who is not an opponent, but rather a partner engaged in helping us understand ourselves more fully. – Joe Hyams

Personal Training and Fitness Class Announcement

As most of you know by now, either by Facebook, rumor or announcements, SBN Pagano will be the new owner of the Fit Flock Gym in less than 1 week!

The karate school will stay where it is, and all the exercise equipment that we use for Personal Training and Fit-4-Life Classes will be relocated to the Fit Flock gym (118-F Lynchburg Ave) in the Chestertown Business Park, across from the Health Department. Expect that this may take a week or so to complete.

Paperwork has been filed for Phoenix Fitness and Wellness, LLC and we will plan to rebrand the Fit Flock gym/studio in January 2027.

There will be no changes to Eastern Shore Tang Soo Do, other than there will be more room for training, and for parents to sit and watch.

All services currently available at Fit Flock will remain open and be incorporated into the Phoenix Fitness and Wellness services profile.

Feel free to look at the Fit Flock website for information on Red Light Therapy and what else is currently offered.
