Basic Tang Soo Do Etiquette

Taken from the pages or our Student Handbook

  1. It is Proper Respect to address a senior member as “Kyo Sa Nim” or “Sa Bom Nim” if they have tested for and rightfully earned these titles.

Exercise/Training not only Changes your Body, it Changes your Mind, your Attitude and your Mood.

Keep Training, Keep Changing, Keep Improving!

Korean Word of the Week

Word: 정신 (jeong-sin) Spirit

Phrase: 당수도 정신! (tang-soo-do jeong-sin)! Tang Soo Do Spirit! 강한 정신은 포기하지 않는다! (gang-han jeong-sin-eun po-gi-ha-ji an-neun-da) A Strong Spirit Does Not Give Up!

Diving Deeper: Your body can only go as far as your spirit allows. When training, you’ll get tired. But it is your 정신 that decides if you stop or keep going. A student with strong spirit will always continue to improve. When it comes to showing spirit in Tang Soo Do, it’s calling back with enthusiasm (Yes sir/Yes ma’am), a strong kihap, focus, respect, and a positive attitude. A strong spirit means you do not give up easily, stay focussed and disciplined, and always finish what you start. Challenge: Try to use the Word of the Week at the 도장 (Do Jang)!

Confidence comes from Keeping the Promises you made to Yourself!
