Basic Tang Soo Do Etiquette
Taken from the pages or our Student Handbook
- It is a privilege to have the opportunity to train, and students must show respect and appreciation for the Do Jang. Students should work together and share the responsibility of cleaning the carpet, mirrors, and training equipment. Students should never eat or drink in the Do Jang.
Exercise/Training not only Changes your Body, it Changes your Mind, your Attitude and your Mood.
Keep Training, Keep Changing, Keep Improving!
Korean Word of the Week
Word/Phrase: 잠깐만요 (jam-kkan-man-yo)
Wait a moment/Wait a Second
Diving Deeper: This is a common word said for everyday conversation in Korea when someone needs a second/extra time, or wants another person to stop for a moment. A simple word, but for us, it teaches is the important lesson about slowing down, patience, focus, and self-control. When we train, we should always stop and remember to take a second and slow down. Think the movement(s) through before reacting. Slowing down and waiting will help you improve your balance, timing of your techniques, breathing, and power. Moving too fast results in mistakes and sloppy movements. Slowing Down and Thinking Something through will also help you REMEMBER stuff! Especially for things like Il Soo Sik and Ho Sin Sul!
Even Slow Progress is Powerful when You Refuse to Quit.
