Basic Tang Soo Do Etiquette

Taken from the pages or our Student Handbook

  1. Students should at all times attempt to maintain good discipline in posture. When speaking with a senior or instructor, students should stand at attention; back straight, hands at your sides, and feet together. At all times, an attention stance should be held while in class – whether you are standing or sitting. When sitting in class, students must sit with their back straight, legs crossed, and hands resting on their knees – NEVER LOUNGE!!!

Exercise/Training not only Changes your Body, it Changes your Mind, your Attitude and your Mood.

Keep Training, Keep Changing, Keep Improving!

Korean Word of the Week

Word: 수고했어요 (su-go-hae-sseo-yo)

You worked hard!/You did a good job!

Phrase: 오늘도 수고했어요. (o-neul-do su-go-hae-sseo-yo)

You worked hard today!

Diving Deeper: This is a common Korean phrase used to acknowledge someone’s hard work or effort after completing a task or a long day! Pouring your heart, mind, and spirit into your training is tough work. Recognizing this hard work in your classmates is important, and using this phrase represents respect and encouragement, and it solidifies the bond you share in Tang Soo Do. Build each other up with these words and you will strengthen not only the bond between you, but also the training that has been done. Respect others and respect will follow you!
