Basic Tang Soo Do Etiquette
Taken from the pages or our Student Handbook
- Students must show respect for their Do Bok (uniform). Your uniform should be clean and neat at all times. Before and after training, uniforms should be folded properly and neatly. If a student is unsure of the correct method of folding their uniform, they should seek instruction from a senior belt.
Motivation is what gets you Started.
Habit is what keeps you Going.

Korean Word of the Week
Word: 인내 (in-nae) Patience
Phrase: 인내는 쓰고 열매는 달다.
(in-nae-neun sue-go yeol-mae-neun dal-da)
Patience is bitter, but its fruit is sweet.
Diving Deeper: When we think of this word, we commonly associate it with endurance, especially during tests where we have an endurance section. This word encompasses many meanings, and in Korean, 인내 (in-nae) is more than simply “waiting calmly.” It means to endure, to withstand, and to persevere. Patience is shown every time you repeat a technique that still feels awkward. When it is not as smooth as it should be and you continue to practice it until it feels right. Staying disciplined even when progress feels slow, through all the frustration and fatigue is how you will become a better martial artist. True growth in training does not happen instantly, but it is built through consistent effort over time. In martial arts, patience is not passive, it is an active decision to keep moving forward even when the results are not immediate.
The Most Advanced Thing You Can Do are the Basics Consistently. – Unknown
Memorial Day
Did you know? Memorial Day began as Decoration Day on May 30, 1868, following the Civil War. By 1873 it was adopted as a National Holiday, and the two World Wars brought about the name change and anchored the Holiday Observance to the last Monday of May.
Memorial Day is the day to remember, with honor and appreciation, all those who served and died for our Country and our Freedom. This year, we will observe on Monday May 25, 2026.
