THE BEST INSTRUCTORS IN THE AREA
All of our Instructors are well trained through our Leadership Program. They undergo special testing and Certification by our Master Instructor and by the International Tang Soo Do Federation (ITF). Master Mark Pagano is a 6th Degree Black Belt and a Member of the ITF Technical Committee.
Our Instructors are also active practitioners, required by the ITF to maintain their skills through participation in Semi-Annual training and proficiency testing. They are taught to recognize the individual needs of our students and to help them focus on improving, making them excellent guides for our students to learn and develop.

The classes for teens and adults offered at Phoenix Personal Fitness & Martial Arts are led by an experienced, professional team of inspiring instructors, featuring quality curriculums tested and approved by expert Martial Arts instructor Master Mark Pagano in a clean, convenient, comfortable, secure, and modern facility.
Martial Arts for Teens/Adults
All material is designed to train individuals through incremental development into skillful Martial Artists. Coursework is influenced by a number of popular competitive disciplines. The training system utilized at Phoenix Personal Fitness & Martial Arts is crafted so that any student with the willingness to try, to learn, and to persevere can become proficient Martial Arts practitioner.
In our Martial Arts for Teens/Adults classes, students learn through repetition alone and with partners in diverse, practical applications of techniques and realistic scenarios. Other benefits of training in our system include development of skills that help in managing conflicts, reducing stress by releasing tension, and resisting temptations that commonly occur in modern daily life. Classes are designed to offer so much more than just kicking and punching at Phoenix Personal Fitness & Martial Arts. Our Martial Arts for Teens and Adults classes give you the profoundly important ability to gain self-confidence while improving your personal safety and physical, mental, emotional, and social capacities.
Our loyal, motivated Martial Arts students are provided all the tools necessary to enhance the body’s basic functions such as increased flexibility, core strength, and endurance. Self-defense is taught in a safe, enjoyable environment that emphasizes the values and practical application of Martial Arts prowess that could one day save a life. Successful students dedicate themselves to pursuing mastery of the Martial Arts techniques, life skills, and leadership traits. KARATE FOR KIDS
Karate for Kids classes at Phoenix Personal Fitness & Martial Arts and Eastern Shore Karate and Fitness are a great way to instill integrity, courtesy and respect with children. Our programs teach children of all ages the valuable life lessons of respect, self-discipline, self-control, and the ability to safely defend themselves when needed.

The life skills taught by our professional instructors are instrumental in shaping confident, capable, and successful people in today’s society. Interaction with the community, starting at an early age, can be an enriching and pivotal experience for any person.
Phoenix Personal Fitness & Martial Arts serves the community with some of the best Karate classes on Eastern Shore. Karate for Kids has an age-appropriate curriculum featuring classes specifically aimed at the physical development and mental capabilities of children and adolescents in the family. By measuring the results of the individual student, and by establishing specific goals in the context of the curriculum at Phoenix Personal Fitness & Martial Arts, our Karate for Kids program carries over to many other activities, studies, and pursuits in life, particularly for young students. Teaching the skill of dedication to completing an activity, setting and reaching goals, is an important part of the program designed by our instructors.
Together with others their own age, every Karate Kid can grow with the self-confidence that only a high quality Martial Arts program can deliver consistently. The course of self-improvement and leadership offered at Phoenix Personal Fitness & Martial Arts can ultimately be a key turning point for kids in the family. Tiny Tigers (Ages 3-6): This Fun Filled Program with a Kid Friendly Atmosphere encourages learning through Games and Activities. The use of Animal references for Movements and challenges to Improve Motor Development, and Supported by Positive Reinforcement, make our Tigers the Best around!
Youth Program (Ages 6-12): Focusing on Developing Self Esteem, Respect and Teamwork, our students learn to Build Character as well as get a Great Physical workout…and Learn to Defend themselves!

Fitness Programs
Mark Pagano holds both Master’s and Bachelor’s degrees in Kinesiology and Exercise Science, and over the years he has held multiple certifications from such Organizations as the National Strength and Conditioning Association, American Council on Exercise, International Sports Science Association and the Cooper Institute of Aerobic Research.
Additionally, Mark is also an ALIVE Coach, a Member of an Elite organization of Personal Trainers, under the Mentorship and Guidance of Phil Kaplan, one of the most renown Personal Trainers/Coach/Mentor/Educator in the Industry.
All of the Fitness Programs offered here at Phoenix Personal Fitness and Martial Arts have been developed by either Mark’s friend and mentor Phil, who taught them to Mark directly… or by Mark himself.
METABOLIC REBOOT: Our Premiere Program featuring Amazing results through the Scientific Integration of Nutrition, Proper Exercise and Mindset Training. This program is perhaps the most integrative approach to Health and Fitness ever. It is about Change. Recreating your Metabolism and yourself by Transforming your Body, Mindset and Lifestyle to become a Better and Healthier You. These Concepts Align Perfectly with that of the Phoenix…which embodies the ideas of recreating and reinventing yourself. The Metabolic Reboot will take you on a fantastic journey of discovering the importance of balancing Proper Nutrition, Appropriate Stress Load (Exercise) and Adequate Recovery (Mindset/Meditation). We call this ASAR. Nutrition: There are a lot of misconceptions about nutrition which have been fostered by all the various “fad diets” over the years. The Metabolic Reboot helps to dispel these misconceptions and teaches us how to return to a healthy and natural view of food and the importance of fueling our bodies correctly. ASAR: The Exercise routines begin with just 9 minutes per day (YES!! 9 minutes/day!!) and gradually builds throughout the program. An emphasis on teaching proper technique for our bodies, referred to as “Bio-Movements”, is a hallmark of Mark’s training style and educational background in Bio-Mechanics. Balance, Speed and Power are All Combined in this Incredible Program to Improve Performance in any Sport or Activity…everything from Golf to Team Sports, Sailing to Hiking and Climbing, Racket Sports to Martial Arts Competition! Completing this Challenging program will make you Feel Better, Feel Stronger and Perform Better! It is the Perfect combination of developing Core Strength and Stability with High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT). The Program is designed to improve performance of the body for any activity, with many of the exercises modifiable to address Sport/Activity specific needs. Mark has helped many High School athletes transition into College Athletics over the years and has even helped several athletes into their respective professional sports… Including helping Mark win a few Grand-Champion trophies of his own. This Program is both Fun and Challenging!
GOLF CONDITIONING: A spinoff of the Core Conditioning Program, this one is developed specifically for the avid Golfer. Whether for Leisure, or if you are a Semi-Pro or Pro , this Program helps you develop your most important piece of equipment…YOU! And will Immediately Improve your Swing, your Accuracy and take several Strokes OFF of your game!
HEALTHY BACK: Whether Chronic or Acute… Lower Back Pain, Mid-Back Pain, Shoulder, Neck, and Hip Pain… can all become a thing of the Past with our Biomechanically Based approach to Restoring Posture and Functionality throughout the Body. Combined with both education and experience in the field…as well as the personal experience of a Ruptured Disc at the base of his own Spine, Mark developed this program so as never to relive that experience again. During recovery, and discussions with both his surgeon and physical therapist, Mark realized that this Program would be an Amazing Asset in helping as many people as possible prevent the need for surgery, compromised movement or life with chronic back pain. There are many people on the Eastern Shore today who are Moving Freely and without Pain as a result of going through the Healthy Back Program.

FIT-4-LIFE CLASS: This Fun and Exciting Class meets daily (Monday through Friday) at 6:45 AM and incorporates elements of Yoga, Qi Gong and Core Exercises for the Warm-Up; Resistance Training for the mid-portion of the class, which varies from day-to-day and is adjustable to every participant’s skill level and current physical condition. This includes differing phases of Strength Gain, Muscle Shaping, Conditioning and Muscular Endurance; the class Wraps-Up with Stretching & Meditation for the Cool-Down. Mark maintains a vigilant watch over all participants to ensure safety and proper technique of the exercises. He will often discuss Nutrition and various topics during the cool down and is happy to answer any questions throughout. A Great Class for ANY age and ANY level of experience! No one is too old, or too young! No one is too out of shape, too Novice, or too Experienced! Perfect class for ALL!
