Korean Word of the Week
By BKS Faith
Word: 불굴의 정신 (pul-kur-i chung-shin) Indomitable Spirit!
Phrase: 불굴의 정신은 계속 일어나는 힘입니다.
(pul-ku-i chung-shin-eun gye-sok-i-reo-na-neun him-im-ni-da)
An Indomitable Spirit is the strength to keep getting back up.
Diving Deeper: Indomitable Spirit is the determination to keep going even when it seems difficult. It is the mindset of refusing to accept defeat even when challenges stand in tour wat and finding the inner strength to rise again after all the setbacks. The strongest martial artists are not those who never face hardships, they are the ones who develop the courace and discipline to overcome it. In Tang Soo Do, indomitable spirit remind us that true strength is not measured by how many times we fall, but our willingness to stand up, persevere, and to keep moving forward.
Challenge: Try to use the Phrase of the Week at the 도장 (Do Jang)! 가족!

The Old Days of Karate: “In the old days of karate (Tang Soo Do), there were no explanations, only the instruction to follow the Sensei (Sa Bom Nim) in silence. There was no room for questions. I was always wondering ‘why’ about everything. That was the way it was, each one (person) had to reach understanding on their own through their own body. That was the old school. What used to take 10 years to understand, can now be learned in three years. But what is easy to learn is also easy to forget.” – Hirokazu Kanazawa
Black Belt is a White Belt who Never Gave Up!
Just Don’t Quit!
Make Karate a part of your daily routine, and always make an effort to improve your skills. You will only get back what you put into it.
